Welcome to Northwest Eye & Laser Center. Our experienced and responsive staff strives to deliver the highest level of care. Whether a patient desires cosmetic eyelid surgery, Botox injections, or requires reconstructive surgery due to trauma, we combine years of technical expertise with artistic sensibility to meet the individual needs of each of our valued patients.
We have found that many of our patients are interested in maintaining a cosmetic liaison with us. While our website explains many procedures in detail, our Facebook page can keep you up-to-date on special offers, discounts, and new procedures. In addition, Facebook features are often selected based on your interests so please "friend" us on Facebook, and let us know what topics you would like to see covered.
Below you will find a brief description of our staff, procedures, products, policies, forms, and location. We begin with brief bios of Mark Boerner, M.D. and his technical and administrative assistants. While the majority of procedures conducted at Northwest Eye and Laser Center can be found on the menu to the right, procedures we would like to highlight are listed below. These include cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid and facial surgery, wrinkle prevention/reversal procedures, and skin rejuvenation. We offer two lines of skin care products, Epionce and Obagi, which aid in healing from cosmetic eye and facial surgeries and are also available for general use. Forms for your office visit are to the left of the screen near the top (under FORMS). A description of our policies and map of our location are provided at the bottom of the webpage. If you have any questions, please let our staff know and we would be glad to follow up!

Eyelid surgery, ptosis surgery, and all the other types of reconstructive medical procedures are his areas of expertise. These surgeries can be combined with other procedures to maximize aesthetic results, such as wrinkle prevention techniques, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, neck liposuction, and fat transfer to the face. Dr. Boerner's areas of expertise are further described below.
Cosmetic and Reconstructive Eyelid and Facial Surgery...
blepharoplasty - As we age, eyelid skin stretches and muscle tone weakens. Our upper eyelids often begin to droop and lower eyelid bags begin to fill in. This is called ptosis. The aging process of the eyelids can make us appear tired or unfriendly. In advanced cases, our field of vision may be impaired. blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery to remove excess skin and fat. This surgery can be performed on both the upper and on the lower eyelids and can improve a person's vision as well as enhance the appearance of youth and vitality. In some cases, this eyelid surgery is cosmetic and in other cases functional. Dr. Boerner has conducted thousands of blepharoplasties over the course of his career and has an aesthetic eye to achieve the best results for you. The photos show the difference blepharoplasties can make after surgery.
Short Incision Facelift - The short incision facelift is a cosmetic facial surgery for men and women who are starting to see some laxity in their lower face around the jaw. It is a procedure best suited for those in their 30s through 50s who generally have good skin tone. Before/after photos show reduction of jowls, sharpening of the jaw line, and tightening of the neck that results from this cosmetic surgery. Also called a mini-facelift, it enhances key facial areas with less risk, less stress, and shorter recovery time than standard facelift surgery. Dr. Boerner is available for consultation to determine whether you might be a good candidate for this type of cosmetic facial surgery.
Endoscopic Forehead Lift - The endoscopic forehead lift is a cosmetic facial surgery designed to smooth the forehead, raise the brows, and minimize frown lines. The impacts of time and gravity are visibly reduced through the brow lift. Before and after photos below show results of direct and endoscopic forehead and brow lifts.
Fat Transfers - Another procedure used to rejuvenate the mid-face is transfer of a patient's own fat to areas that have lost volume due to the aging process. Dr. Boerner uses this cosmetic facial surgery to smooth and repair wrinkles and creases on the face, and to elevate depressions which can exacerbate the appearance of lower eyelid bags. The combination of fat transfer and blepharoplasties can produce amazing results.
Other Reconstructive Oculoplastics - Dr. Boerner deals with the surgical management of tumors, trauma, and disorders of the face and eyelid. A variety of these surgeries involve skin grafting and precise stitching. Below is an example of a patient who had basil cell carcinoma removed and required eyelid reconstruction.
Wrinkle Prevention/Reversal Procedures...
Botox Injections (botox.com) - Botox Cosmetic is a natural purified protein that functions by relaxing overactive muscles that cause wrinkles to form. When properly used, Botox Cosmetic can make a dramatic change in appearance. Dr. Boerner is the only Idaho member of the Botox National Advisors Board, and has the experience and know-how to get great results. Botox works well on crows feet, laugh lines, lip lines, forehead wrinkles -- as shown in the before/after photos.
Ablative CO2 Laser Resurfacing - Ablative resurfacing is a type of cosmetic facial surgery that reduces medium and deep wrinkles associated with aging/sun-damaged skin (also reduces the appearance of acne scars). This involves removing the epidermis and injuring the dermis in a controlled fashion. After a two-week healing process, marked reduction in even the deepest wrinkles is apparent. Certain types of skin are better than others for this laser, and Dr. Boerner can help you determine skin type/sensitivity to this cosmetic facial surgery.
Procedures for Eye Socket/Tear Duct Disorders...
Dr. Boerner sees patients from around the Intermountain West for problems such as eye socket tumors and trauma, as well as blockages of the tear drainage system.
Latisse - A prescription treatment used to grow thicker, longer, darker lashes.
Epionce - Skincare line that delivers powerful therapy where you need it most with botanical ingredients, patent pending formulas, and a 5 phase system. This line enhances the lipid barrier of the skin and quells inflation caused by the environment. Very well tolerated by sensitive, dry skin.
Obagi Prescription-strength skincare line designed to improve skin function and transform skin so that it looks and acts younger and healthier. Especially ideal for evening skin tone and improving skin texture.
Kybella is an FDA approved injectable treatment for adults that destroys fat cells under the chin to improve profile. It dramatically reduces the appearance of fat underneath the chin. This product is used whether patients have a moderate amount of chin fullness or a bit more.
